Today I went to a busy Starbucks and I sat in a chair and placed my laptop on the table and overserved people for about an hour. Everyone was on their phones for the most part. I saw people come in alone and they would stand in line on their phone all ages from 15 to up. Then I always saw a group of people standing in line that they knew each other but were on their phone as well from probably ten groups of three or more people I saw like two of them were actually having conversation but besides that the l place was quiet. The baristas taking orders and talking among themselves. I realized that this is sad because we are too antisocial, society brings us standards in which we have to follow in order to “fit in”. which makes all the other unsecured and shy in a way. And a big thing I noticed was that when you smile to some and they smile back, it is easy to bring up a conversation with them. The environment felt a little depressed and sad , not as happy. But after an hour I saw many people walk in and sit at tables and after a couple of minutes other people sat with them and they discussed the tops. But everyone else was on their phones which is very sad how he finds that phone to be more important than socializing in person. There was a couple I was interested in because they were different. What made them different was that they were engaged in a conversation. At no moment, I saw them pull out a phone or look at a watch. In fact, talking, discussing , even asked the people behind them for a second option. This made me think that we need more people to engage with others through communications. They sat at a table for two next to the window and never did I see them use a phone no text call social media besides their table every with people who had people on their phone working on a laptop.
