(JCB) Chapter 3: Fast Food/Work and economy

I feel connected to this as fast food. I basically was agreeing with everything that was said. I have always said that I could not work in a Fast Food restaurant. When I think of Fast food restaurants, I think of rude customers, and hard-working conditions. For example, last time I went to a fast food restaurant and the person taking my order said I couldn’t hear her and I nicely said ‘’excuse I couldn’t hear you, can you repeat please’’ and she rolled her eyes and gave me an annoyed look. I think that working in a Global Food Economy is hard, and challenging. I personally think I could not survive working in a fast food spot. The fast food industry also designates the economy. “McDonald, for instance, has reached a point where they are no longer part of the service industry”. Out of this chapter transnational corporations caught my attention most. This organization that owns or controls production of goods or services in two or more countries other than their home country reminds me of what we discussed in class about horticultural-pastoral tendencies, it all started out with trading goods which is essentially what transnational corporations are about. It’s a system that is “controlled” trading, which if you look down the ladder of time, is what society has been made up on. The specialization that exists in the economy root to so many different aspects, society is an accumulation of processes. But everyone will always consume fast food despite how employees behave most times.
