A real woman has to be skinny, pretty, hourglass body, nice hair, color eye, big lips, white perfect teeth. According to society. But I believe real women come in all shapes and sizes. I know in today’s society beauty is considered fair skin, and being very thin. There is not one person out there that has the exact same body, maybe similar features but everyone is different. If you look at a magazine for example that women are skinny mostly like color eyes, thick lips, smooth skin. That’s because women want to be like that because that’s what society says. If you look at social media girls, boys want to become models they want to be liked. I think Women and even men need to realize that looking like the models in the magazines isn’t the way to go. They just need to be themselves and happy with who they are. If we talk about lets say the Kardashians, they become known due to there beauty and booty. Many want to be like them but honestly they weren’t always pretty they magically got a nice body and features. Due to this many strive to become pretty, or perfect in their eyes. But beauty is changeable, meaning what is beautiful in one society may not be in another. Some societies encourage the placing of object in the ears or jaw to extend the neck or shape the head. In other societies voluptuous women may be seen as being more attractive than a woman who is skinny. The different societies throughout the world expect different things when it comes to the ideal beauty. Then we deal with the problem of beauty in relation to power of society. “Culture is constructed in complex ways, and groups with more power and influence tend to set the trends, creates the options, and enforce the standards.” This basically means there is discrimination in the workforce when someone isn’t as good-looking or is overweight. We are also dealing with the ways that beauty standards are enforced. Some of those ways is by self-objectification where we see ourselves through others’ eyes. This is where young girls start to feel the pressure of the media and other people at school because they want to fit in, and I can strongly agree with this point because I was once too one of them pressured young girls dying to belong and have the beauty other popular girls had. Beauty should be based on what society thinks and says and says we all have natural beauty. It’s hard pleasing to others so we shouldn’t.
