First time school begins in a class room is usually Kindergarten. This is the hardest grade if you think about it, you’re finally departing from parents, you’re going with total strangers whom your life depends on. Crazy right??!! Here it’s more of playing with kitchen sets or singing to the ABC’s. It’s a place that some of us considered our second home, where we’re given a multi ethnic family and mother, who loved and cared for us. It helps children get used to being away from parents, learning how to socialize with others and prepares us for further education.
Gracey compares a kindergarten classroom to a military boot camp, giving children the role of students just as the air force gives the airman. It is explained how children with time adjust to elementary school, how it teaches them basic social, emotional and learning skills. Kindergarten teachers act literally like a mom or dad. Not only do they teach us how to read or write, but they teach us to be polite, how to behave, to be good listeners, and share with others and other qualities we will need through school and life.
